Packing potatoes and onions into carry-fresh bags or nets is not only a “dirty” job for the bagger to perform, it’s also an extremely specialist application, as the machine is required to handle three separate film rolls. ILAPAK is one of the few packaging equipment manufacturers to have risen to the challenge, with its Vegatronic 2000 and its Vegatronic 4000 capable of making carry-fresh bags or nets with both front and back bandoliers in an intermittent or continuous process.
“It’s not just about running three separate rolls, but also about running materials with different elasticity and structure such as the bandoliers and net. The main challenges you face in this application are related to the film pull and seal and we have developed dedicated profiles and coatings for our jaws and rollers that can accommodate these variations,” explains Andrea Boccolini, ILAPAK VFFS Division Product Manager.
For example, ILAPAK’s machines use vulcanised (rubber coated) rollers to enable precise control over film tension, delivering bag quality and speed benefits, and are fully servo controlled, allowing them to handle a wide variety of materials and films.
The heavy duty machines are available in both painted and stainless steel executions.
